Here at Volans, Leach & Schofield, our friendly and experienced team can assist with any queries or questions that you may have. From accounting to auditing, bookkeeping to self assessment, we are here for you.
Martin joined the practice in 1995 following completion of A levels and achieved the ACCA qualification in 2000. Having progressed through the firm, Martin was invited into partnership in 2007 and has amassed a great amount of experience since those early days.
Many of the firm’s clients have known Martin since he joined the practice and the working relationship has continued from junior to partner level. Martin enjoys dealing with all aspects of the client relationship and is never afraid to “get his hands dirty” when the need arises.
Outside of the business, Martin is a proud father to two children and enjoys concerts, cars and the fortunes of Leeds United where he is a passionate season ticket holder. Oh and whilst Martin will always tell people that he no longer plays much golf, he has an uncanny ability to produce the goods, especially after requesting that he should play off 28!
Chris has a long family association with the firm in that his grandfather Alfred Schofield was one of the founding partners and many clients will remember Chris’s father William Smart who was in partnership with Alfred and ultimately Chris before retirement in 1992.
After university Chris joined the practice and qualified as a Chartered Account and Chartered Tax Adviser with the firm. In addition to obsessing about tax Chris is involved with the provision of regulated investment advice to clients.
Outside work Chris enjoys family life, sport and gardening. He has also been learning Spanish for about 10 years to no obvious effect.
Unlike Martin, Chris has no uncanny ability to produce the goods at golf and can’t play to 24 despite playing nearly every week; he wishes he could still play rugby instead.
